John Jeffries Announced as Mentor Coach - Nov 2014

Vision Volleyball Club is pleased to announce that John Jeffries has accepted the position of mentor coach.

Jeffries, who has a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience, will spend the year helping young coaches at the Vision Volleyball Club. He will be attending various practices throughout the year and will help coaches develop drill knowledge and coaching abilities, provide feed back, and help teams move to the next level.

The mentoring program, which is new to the club, is aimed at building the technical and tactical knowledge of all of our coaches. The program will help provide the newer coaches with tools they can use as they move forward.  It will also help the Club to retain coaches over the long term. Most of all, it will provide athletes of all ages within the Vision Club with the opportunity to learn from a legend of the sport.

Last year John Jeffries coached a small team of eight girls to a 5th place finish at the Ontario Championships in the Ontario Volleyball Association’s premier division. Jeffries previously coached at Widdifield Secondary School for many years, winning five OFSAA championships along the way. He coached in the OUA, and  OCAA. Jeffries also is the current Regional President and the Chair of the all regional presidents on the Board of the OVA. In 2003 he was inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame.  Jeffries brings to this role almost four decades of coaching experience to the Club.  It would be hard to find anyone in this area with more coaching knowledge than Jeffries.

The Ontario Volleyball Association club season recently began. All teams are working hard for the season which runs from November to April ending the year with a provincial championship at RIM Park in Waterloo.
